When was your most provocative moment as a dancer or choreographer?

It was Spring Emerging 2012 when I presented one of my works "Abstracted Longing". For the first time, on that Friday night I saw my piece from afar as whole with costume, dancers and lighting. And it brought me to tears. Then I realized the crowd was also screaming and clapping and giving me a standing ovation. That was my moment.

 

Describe when you had a freeing experience, or a “come to moment” and realization that dance and choreography was your calling and purpose.

This moment too happened at Emerging Fall 2012. It wasn't what I received from the show it was the responses from different people. One was from a dancer who said "you little midget you did it again". Another from a panelist "I could tell exactly what you were saying and could watch the movement and see the music in the dancers". The last was from a co-worker "yeah you need to quite, this is were you're suppose to be".

Why does this moment stick with you and how does it inspire you in all of your dance and choreography creations? 

It just stuck with me because it was that "ah ha" moment that made me realize that I am not only a dancer but an artist that has to keep pushing and striving to became great so I can share my art and touch as many people as possible.
