When was your most provocative moment as a dancer or choreographer?

 

November 2005 was a breakthrough moment in my Dance Career.  I went through a horrible breakup with a longtime boyfriend I had been with and immediately felt like dance was my savior...

 

 

Describe when you had a freeing experience, or a “come to moment” and realization that dance and choreography was your calling and purpose.

 

...It had been 2 years living in LA and have been auditioning, but only getting as far as the last cut of auditions. That same month of my breakup, I directed booked not 1, but 2 dance gigs (dancing for 5 Artists at a variety show and 1 music video as the lead girl and back up dancer) through my agency which were my first dance jobs. I also got an opportunity to choreograph for Choreographer's Carnival in Hollywood where I got my best girlfriends together to dance out my story about my ex and I. This was the first time I felt true, genuine emotion on stage and also felt the same from the audience. From this moment on, I knew that my art was meant to make people feel and be a leader in the community. I haven't stopped since!

Why does this moment stick with you and how does it inspire you in all of your dance and choreography creations? 

This moment sticks with me because it reminds me why I dance and the importance it has in the world. It is a decade later and I feel I still have the same mission, to empower others through my art.
